of it. Often times, people who have never known abuse, simply do not understand it. When shown a visual of how a victim feels, viewers can begin a new understanding. The viewer embarks into the deep feelings of the victim, getting a glimpse into her life & emotional health. In this area of inspiring and empowering those affected by sexual and domestic violence to reach for understanding and education; to strive for a better way, no one creates a more powerful and lasting impact than MeloD and her art! After listening to the story behind The Domestic Violence Series and viewing the paintings, Exhibit attendee's become deeply moved and motivated to better understand abuse. This energy is then taken back into their "own" lives and contagiously begins to spread. Remember, the key to ending sexual and domestic violence is education! The Domestic Violence Series divides the emotions felt by sexual and domestic violence victims into phases. Each phase stands alone in solace; with independent importance. All nine together in sequence, form a long, complicated journey from abuse, through recovery and ultimately ~ into survival ! An exhibit of the "Complete Story" displayed in order, has been proven to bring about much attention! This has happened in each and every community "The Complete Story" has been shown. It gets people TALKING!! It gets the media's attention! Thus, important coverage on the issue of domestic violence ! |
